Installation

How to install Reconcile on macOS from the distributed DMG file.

Download

Download the latest release DMG from hidden-mountain.com or from the link provided in your purchase confirmation email.

The file will be named Reconcile-<version>.dmg.

Installing from the DMG

  1. Open the downloaded .dmg file. A mounted volume will appear on your Desktop and in the Finder sidebar.
  2. Drag Reconcile.app into the Applications folder shortcut shown in the volume window.
  3. Eject the mounted volume.
  4. Open Reconcile from your Applications folder or Launchpad.

Gatekeeper prompt

On first launch, macOS Gatekeeper may display a warning because the app was downloaded from the internet. To proceed:

  1. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security.
  2. Scroll to the Security section. A message will indicate that Reconcile was blocked.
  3. Click Open Anyway.
  4. Confirm in the subsequent dialog.

This prompt appears only once. Reconcile is notarized by Apple and code-signed with a Developer ID certificate; the Gatekeeper warning is standard behaviour for apps distributed outside the Mac App Store.

Updates

Reconcile checks for updates on launch. When a new version is available, a notification appears within the app. Updates are incremental downloads and do not require re-installation from a DMG.

To check manually, choose Reconcile → Check for Updates from the menu bar.

We recommend checking for updates on first run to make sure you are on the latest version, as the DMG you downloaded may not include the most recent release.

Uninstalling

Drag Reconcile.app from the Applications folder to the Trash. Application preferences are stored in ~/Library/Preferences/ and ~/Library/Application Support/Reconcile/. Remove those directories manually if a complete uninstall is required.
